Dragon city provides a feature of breeding in the game. According to the breeding feature, you can cross two dragons that should be at least at level 4 to give birth to dragon egg. You can perform this breeding process through a diverse collection of breedable dragons. This is the only feature for the player in which he has not to spend a single amount of gold or gem. The gaming system chooses randomly the type of egg and dragon that can be produced by the kind of dragon you mate. After the egg is a hatch, wait till the time the new dragon comes out. Now you can put that new dragon in kindergarten or Dragonarium, where it will take further growth.
Reasons for breeding are:
- Developing a great combating dragon.
- If you do not want the egg, then you can generate income and experience by selling the new dragon to other players.
- You can increase gold’s quantity.
- You will get the chance to complete the collection from the dragon book and obtain the related rewards.

Before starting the process of breeding, you should know the basic dragons that can breed. You need to buy these dragons when they are born out of the eggs as you do not have big or parent dragons already to produce these dragons.

- Flame Dragon
- Electric Dragon

First-Generation Breeding Dragons
These are also known as Elemental Dragons. These dragons contain only one element. The members playing the game for a long time mostly uses generation 1 dragon.
When you breed dragons of the similar element, then the resultant dragon will have the same element. You can go for the hybrid process as when you breed different elements dragons then the resultant dragon will also be of a new element. Sometimes it is difficult to obtain a dragon. The hybrid process should be done very carefully as opposing element dragons cannot breed. This will be impossible to develop a rare breed of the dragon through the hybrid process.
Second Generation Dragons
The hybrid dragons fall in this category. These dragons have two or more elements with them. Hybrid dragons have light, war, and pure hybrid dragons. Sometimes breeding hybrids may also result in a single elemental dragon.
Third Generation Dragons
Third generation dragons are rare hybrids. When two-hybrid dragons mate each other, then there is sometimes the possibility of getting a rare hybrid dragon. If you want to have these dragons, then you should have to unlock stage 3 of the game. Stage 3 rare hybrid dragons have three elements.
This generation is the category of legend Dragons. These dragons have only one element, and you will be required a large number of gems to buy them. You will have to breed two pure hybrid dragons to possibly get a legend dragon.
